A man who doesn’t give up
For nearly 9 Years I’ve started collecting music on vinyl. In particular only Drum and Bass Music and Jungle. I had the thought, that it would be a great hobby to actually use those collected vinyls to create music mixes. So I’ve bought some equipment around 8 years ago. Unfortunately mixing music like DnB requires you to invest the hours. You want to create some decent mixes in a day? Good luck! Personally, I’ve learned over the years, that I’m a person, who loves to get instant gratification like probably most people do (or at least some gratification after a small amount of time like in timespans of hours). The majority of people love to consume their products and go to the next product to get the next „high“ as fast as possible. It seems, I’m not different in certain cases. Basically people amaze me, who can keep up their motivation for projects, even if they fail at something or something didn’t work out as planned, still they keep on pushing. These kinda people are truly passionate people. I’m sure secretely everybody aspires to become as passionate as them. I want to create something, which people possibly enjoy, but which takes alot of long-term to truly master.
Why now
2 days ago I’ve found a thread about Carl Danner a.k.a Karl K on Dogs on Acid (DOA). Carl Danner is a person, who pushed Drum and Bass music in North America. To be honest, I didn’t know about him till I’ve found the thread. He suffered 2 strokes in short amount of time, which made him suffer from brain damage. These 2 strokes had a huge negative impact on his life, which he tells in a gut-wrenching video, where he asks for help. For me, it was really tough to watch the video and I don’t know, if I can ever watch it a second time, because it’s just heartbreaking, but at the same time inspiring. Carl Danner is a fighter and even with his disability, he wants to leave something behind. Carl Danner is a huge inspiration for me to finally do the same: Leaving something behind, which people maybe enjoy in the future, even if I’m not there anymore. Carl Danner will create music under hard circumstances to leave something behind. It would be a shame, if I don’t take the chance I still have while being healthy to leave something behind too. Thank you, Karl K. If you want to support Carl follow the 2 links. There are 2 possibilities to help him a little, if you are interested.

How to start
Through research, I’ve found some helpful advise online from people, who mix Drum and Bass and Jungle. One guy suggested, that beginners should start with choosing one artist and mix intro into the outro of a song, where both tracks have the same BPM. He said, that you should make your life as easy as possible when learning. Great, that I have a vast selection of Calibre songs, because he is an outstanding Drum and Bass producer (Ctrl + F and put Calibre in the search bar and you can see how many releases I have of him). Time to spin and invest the hours
Let’s end my first Blog entry with a great song Karl K worked on. Cya around for my next entry!
